Designation and Experience
I received my Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Calgary in 1979 and my Master of Social Work degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1989. I have worked for the past 30 years in the field of Social Work, specializing in the area of Child Welfare and Adoption Services in the provinces of Alberta, Ontario, and Newfoundland.
I’ve been running our Edmonton office at Adoption By Choice since 1994. During this time I’ve helped Alberta families build open and successful adoption plans and teach workshops about the dynamics of open adoption.. I also assist families that choose to build their family through international adoption
What inspires you?
I enjoy counseling both birth families and adoptive families throughout the adoption process. I continue to be inspired by the supportive, respectful, and trusting relationships that I have witnessed develop among families and I believe that anything can be achieved if one conducts themselves with dignity and respect
What is your proudest accomplishment?
My children.
What are your hobbies or interests?
In my time off, I have a passion for traveling and experiencing new cultures and traditions. I believe that every culture and race has something to teach us. I also enjoy hanging out with my teenagers.
Why you chose to work for Adoption By Choice?
I chose to work for Adoption By Choice because of the supportive, professional and dedicated staff who see no boundaries in their dedication to bringing families together. I have often been told by individuals that their experience with ABC was very professional, yet also very personal and supportive. Building your family through adoption should not just involve being a number on a list, but a relationship with an agency.
